Mike Lindell Suggests Amnesty for Undocumented Immigrants in Minnesota
Mike Lindell, the CEO of MyPillow and a Republican candidate for governor in Minnesota, recently proposed granting amnesty to undocumented immigrants, referring to himself as a “second chance guy.”
In a recent interview, Lindell, who has received support from former President Donald Trump, shared his plan for a six-month amnesty period for undocumented immigrants in Minnesota. During this time, they would be required to obtain conditional work visas. He mentioned that while he was traveling to California for cotton for his pillows, he engaged with undocumented immigrants and heard their stories.
However, Lindell didn’t clarify how these individuals would acquire work visas without allowing for a push from Democrats to transition them to citizenship.
“It would be great to see this happen nationwide, but, for now, let’s focus on Minnesota,” he noted. “Within six months, all undocumented immigrants would need to secure what’s called a conditional work visa.”
His plan allows those with “clean criminal records” to enroll in these conditional visas, which would not have an expiration date.
“Now, you’re not a citizen,” Lindell told the media. “You can’t vote, but having this card allows you to work, pay taxes, and engage in society.”
His remarks came shortly after Trump praised Lindell as “one of America’s greatest and hardest-working patriots,” in a post on Truth Social, highlighting his love for Minnesota and desire to reclaim its reputation.
Lindell’s suggestion aligns with a movement among around 50 Republican lawmakers advocating for a similar initiative that would permit many undocumented immigrants to work in various capped-pay jobs, particularly in the food industry.
Rosemary Jencks, the founder of the Immigrant Responsibility Project, confirmed the bipartisan support for the amnesty bill, which is known as the Agriculture Workforce Security Act of 2026. This bill aims to facilitate greater participation of undocumented immigrants in the seasonal H-2A worker program.
