Pence's conservative advocacy group, Advancing American Freedom, sent a letter to several senators involved in Kennedy's confirmation hearings. He highlighted Kennedy's previous “pro-abortion” comments when he was still a Democrat, according to the Times. of daily wire.

“While Mr. RFK Jr. has made certain overtures to pro-life leaders to heed their concerns at HHS, there is little reason for confidence at this time,” Pence's group wrote. .

“Every day at HHS, hundreds of decisions are made that move the nation toward or away from respect for life, including federal funding for family planning and regulation of abortion drugs (currently , accounting for 3 out of 5 abortions), insurance coverage for abortions, etc.,” the letter continued.

Pence previously said that if confirmed, Kennedy would be “the most pro-abortion Republican Secretary of Health and Human Services in modern history.”

Not long ago, during the 2024 election cycle, Kennedy initially ran as a Democrat, but also supported a ban on first-trimester abortions, and then quickly stepped down from that position, later saying that what he would do would be “a woman's choice.'' Her body, which she swore to protect.

But in December, Kennedy also spoke with Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Missouri), who said he would revive President Trump's agenda of letting states make their own decisions on abortion now that Democrats no longer have a stranglehold on them. I promised. President Trump has repeatedly said that although he is personally pro-life, he feels abortion decisions should be left up to each state.

“Today I sat down with @RobertKennedyJr and had a substantive discussion about American healthcare and his plans to take on Big Pharma. We also had a great discussion about proliferation policy at HHS. ” Hawley wrote in the X post.

“He promised me that he would restore President Trump's proliferative policies at HHS, including restoring the Mexico City policy and ending taxpayer funding for domestic abortions. ” he continued.

“He has vowed to rescind the Biden administration's Section 1557 rule and also said that all of his members at HHS will be independents. “He told me he believed he could never be the moral leader of the free world,” Hawley added.

Kennedy also spoke with Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), who questioned Kennedy about his position on abortion.

“I said, 'Where's your position? I just had to know because you were all over that map. ” Marin said.

President Kennedy responded by saying, “I think there are too many abortions in the world. Let's start there.” It's not that I don't value life, I do value life, it's just that I view life a little differently in certain situations, such as what we've been through as a family. ”

“Where do you stand when it comes to pro-life?” Marin asked, and went on to say: “He said, 'I serve at the pleasure of the president of the United States, and it is his policy that I will set forth.' So we may not agree on every issue, but , I agree 100%. Anyway, this world. There shouldn't even be abortions in the world. But my policy is not mine, it's the president's, and the country knows where the president stands on this policy. So that's my position.”

“I have no problem with him becoming HHS secretary if that’s what he means to say, and even though my wife, my family, and I are as passionately opposed to pro-life, , we believe Bobby is still qualified for this position,” Marin added.

Pence's organization continues to call on senators to refuse to confirm Kennedy, even as he seeks to quell Republican concerns about the “pro-abortion” HHS suspect.

“Whatever the merits of RFK Jr.'s 'Make America Healthy Again' initiative, the fact is that no matter what other qualifications the candidate has, the HHS Secretary must have a firm commitment to protecting unborn children, and “If we don't, we will succumb to the pressure and backlash surrounding these important daily decisions,” the letter continued.

“We strongly recommend that you reject the nominations of pro-abortion HHS staff candidates. RFK Jr. and other HHS Secretary nominees should respond to the list of important pro-life questions attached to this letter. “The pro-life movement has a strong base of courageous pro-life leaders who are willing to serve the American people at the head of HHS.” Ta.

President Kennedy also vowed to “make America healthy again” by addressing America's “epidemic” of chronic disease, adding that Americans are “massively poisoned by Big Pharma and Big Food.” .
