Mike Tyson seems to believe in the old boxing mantra.women have weak legs”
And apparently so do weeds.
Former heavyweight champion Tyson revealed he quit sex and marijuana while training for his July 20 bout with Netflix’s Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium.
The 57-year-old offered varying schedules for how long he has been in isolation.
“I haven’t smoked in two and a half weeks, and I haven’t had sex in two and a half weeks.” Tyson said this on the Damon Elliott Show. While detailing his training.
he also told forbes: “I haven’t gotten high or had sex in probably about six weeks.”
Tyson has been married to his third wife, Lakiha Spicer, since 2009.
Whether it’s 2 1/2 weeks or 6 weeks, Tyson is willing to give up two of his favorite activities as he prepares for his first fight since an exhibition draw with Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. It’s clear.
Tyson is a big proponent of marijuana use, With his Tyson 2.0 company selling cannabis..
But there appears to be another motive behind his refrain from using it.
“Discipline means doing what you want, even if you don’t want to,” he told the outlet. “I hate not being able to smoke, but I do it the way I want to. I hate not being able to sleep with my wife, so I do it the way I love it.”
but, his spokesperson told USA Today. Tyson said he does not use marijuana because it is on the list of prohibited substances by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which oversees martial arts in the state.
This is actually not the first time he has issued a ban on sex.
He apparently confirmed to Graham Bensinger in 2011 Although he had some regrets, he gave up sex for five years during his heyday.
“Yeah, because I’m an idiot, right?” Tyson said. “That’s such a stupid thing. I’m just following what people told me, boxing will ruin you, girl, boxing. I entered this profession as a totally dumb person in search of glory. I got a job.”
Tyson 2.0
Obviously, Tyson does not think that his abstinence during training is still the act of an “idiot” and hopes that it will help hand Paul only his second loss.
Tyson is still the underdog in this fight, but bettors are backing him and forcing the odds to change.
He started as a +225 underdog against Paul at BetUS, but has since risen to +105.
Video of Tyson training for the fight has been released, for better or worse, and he seems confident about the fight with less than three months remaining.
Tyson told Forbes about his training: “Three times a day, just focused and consistent training.” “Health, Diet, and Agility.”
