Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight ‘should not be going ahead’ after boxing legend’s health scare, UFC great says

UFC legend Michael Bisping has disputed whether the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight scheduled for later this summer will still go ahead as scheduled after the boxing legend suffered a health scare on a flight.

Tyson posted on social media that he felt 100% after the incident — “I don’t need to feel 100% to beat Jake Paul,” but Bisping said on his podcast that it didn’t look “good” on Tyson.

“This is a great example of why fights like this should never take place,” Bisping said on his YouTube channel. Bloody Elbow.

Bisping said he respected Tyson for taking on Paul at age 58, but expressed concern about whether he would be able to survive the several-hour plane ride.

“This guy is approaching 60 and I think he has some health issues. Maybe he just had a little bit of food poisoning or ate something that didn’t agree with him. But what we do know is that paramedics removed him from the plane and sought medical assistance. … This is just unsightly.” He said.

Bisping later said Paul had “cherry-picked another opponent to bolster his own resume and make himself look good”, calling his actions “absolutely disgraceful”.

Tyson and Paul are scheduled to compete in a sanctioned bout on July 20 in Arlington, Texas, which will be streamed live on Netflix.
