Miles McBride’s New Chapter: Author and Father

Miles “Deuce” McBride has taken on a new role—author—and it’s a unique blend of experiences. It’s incredible, he shares, to have a children’s book launched while also welcoming his daughter. In an interview, he mentioned, “It’s wild to release a book and have my daughters in the spotlight simultaneously. It means so much, knowing that she will grow up with a dad who did something like this.” And he hopes this is just the beginning, implying that more books might follow.

This summer, McBride enjoyed a remarkable off season as he and his girlfriend, Anna Zorthere, a former swimmer at West Virginia University, celebrated the birth of their daughter, Ace McBride. The name Ace seems to perfectly complement the family, alongside her father and sister, Monica.

Shortly after Ace arrived, McBride made headlines by announcing the launch of his children’s book, “Deuce: Champion of Friendship,” available on Amazon. The story draws inspiration from Kobe Bryant, who, after retiring, dedicated his life to giving back through initiatives like the Mamba Academy, focusing on youth basketball.

I find it interesting that McBride admits he wasn’t always a big fan of Kobe while growing up. “I really got to appreciate him after his career, particularly how he focused on leaving a positive legacy,” McBride reflected. “I always wanted to be a role model for kids, so writing books seemed like a natural place to start.” It’s that genuine desire to inspire that resonates in his new venture.

As part of promoting his book, McBride has been visiting schools, including his own alma mater in Cincinnati, where he transitioned from being a star quarterback to a professional basketball player. Following this, he plans to return to New York for events at local schools and hospitals.

It seems the community response has been quite encouraging. McBride noted, “Some people ordered quite a few books, specifically for classrooms, which was really great to see.” It gives a sense of fulfillment when the public supports such initiatives.

As Knicks Training Camp approaches, McBride’s book tour may pause, but he’s already contemplating future projects. Interestingly, he mused that perhaps by the time he releases his next book, little Ace will understand what her dad has created.

“I’m beginning to think about my next book and where this journey will lead me,” McBride expressed, hinting at more adventures to come.
