Milo Yiannopoulos, a controversial figure known for his right-wing views, suggested “on the spot deportation” for undocumented immigrants shortly before being taken into custody by ICE. The 41-year-old British national was apprehended at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport by the Department of Homeland Security recently.
According to federal authorities, Yiannopoulos initially entered the U.S. legally through New York City in May 2019 but later chose to overstaying his visa. He reportedly missed an immigration hearing and received a final order of removal on June 22.
Before his arrest, Yiannopoulos had been vocal about stringent deportation policies. For instance, in a post from June 2025, he argued that California should have ICE checkpoints at various public spaces and claimed that illegal immigrants who cannot prove their legal status should be deported immediately.
His rhetoric became even more alarming following the death of anti-ICE activist Renee Good, where he suggested that interfering with deportation efforts should have severe consequences. In a January post, he wrote, “There should be a simple understanding. If you interfere in any way with deportation operations, you get one in the head.”
In a subsequent post from March 2025, he questioned the effectiveness of ICE, suggesting that if the agency couldn’t perform its duties, it should not exist. Throughout his online presence, Yiannopoulos frequently expressed support for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, advocating for legal protection for agents on duty and suggesting the justice system should primarily feature ICE.
Interestingly, his controversial commentary sometimes took a humorous turn. He made jokes about deportation, including quips regarding car ownership and music preferences that he claimed would lead to deportation. In an August 2024 post, he even urged his fellow Brits to reclaim their country by deporting migrants.
Following his recent arrest, there are discussions about the possibility of Yiannopoulos being sent back to the UK. His detention seemingly came about after conservative activist Laura Loomer raised concerns about his status.
Currently, Yiannopoulos is in custody in Alexandria, Louisiana. Neither the Department of Homeland Security nor Yiannopoulos’s representatives have commented on the situation.
