ICE Officer Gregory Simmons Shares Heroic Rescue Story
In a remarkable incident, ICE Law Enforcement Officer Gregory Simmons recounted how he saved a 6-year-old child from drowning in a Florida swimming pool. Acting on instinct, Simmons performed CPR, successfully reviving the unconscious child. His actions underscore the often-overlooked heroism of law enforcement officers outside their typical duties.
Recently, ICE agents in Wisconsin demonstrated similar bravery. While preparing for an arrest operation, they interrupted their work to respond to a nearby rollover accident. Despite facing criticism, these agents have showcased their ability to help those in distress, reminiscent of Simmons’ earlier rescue.
On June 29, while in the Milwaukee area, an officer heard a crash and rushed to the scene. A car had run a red light at 20th Street and Cleveland Avenue, colliding with another vehicle. The impact caused one car to overturn, trapping a 31-year-old woman inside.
The agents immediately alerted their team, instructing them to call 911 while they worked to free the trapped woman. Collaboratively, they managed to extricate her from the wreckage and provided first aid until emergency technicians arrived.
A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security remarked that the actions of these ICE agents demonstrate their commitment to public safety, often risking their own lives in the process. DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Biss praised the agents’ bravery, noting they exemplify the finest qualities of federal law enforcement. He emphasized the necessity of acknowledging the risks they take despite negative portrayals by some politicians and media.
Biss called the officers “heroes,” encouraging the public to appreciate their efforts in safeguarding communities. In a separate instance this year, ICE agents also rescued a choking child, reinforcing their dedication to protecting lives.
