Late Thursday, the Minneapolis police announced the arrest of a suspect in a recent mass shooting that resulted in three deaths and left two others injured.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed at a Thursday evening press conference that 34-year-old James Ortley is in custody.
In Myrtle Beach, a shooting at a busy tourist area resulted in one death and 11 injuries
Ortley is suspected of being involved in six separate shootings over a violent 24-hour period in the city, during which at least six people were injured. Authorities are currently investigating the possibility that some of these incidents are connected.
Police believe the incident on Tuesday, for which Ortley is facing charges, was not random. They’re also exploring whether there may be additional individuals linked to the mass shooting.
The arrest took place around 3:30 PM local time. Ortley was also wanted under a federal warrant for felony possession of a firearm.
Notably, Ortley was previously arrested in February in connection with a violent robbery in Minneapolis, though he was later released without charges.
