Minneapolis protester ridiculed for confusing reply about Renee Nicole Good memorial

A Minnesota protester faced backlash online after declaring it inappropriate to visit the memorial for Renee Nicole Goode, stating that “white tears” hold no value.

Video footage capturing her unexpected remark went viral on social media platforms on Thursday. I was curious, too, about what motivated Goode to go to the spot where he was shot by ICE agents.

“In a way, I feel wrong being here,” she expressed, highlighting her identity as a white woman with considerable “privileges.”

“I feel like white tears aren’t necessarily helpful or necessary,” she added, contrasting her feelings with the ongoing struggles faced by Black and brown individuals.

The response on social media was swift, with many users questioning whether she realized that Renee was also white.

Comments varied, with one user relieved that she was candid about her feelings, while another criticized the influence of ideology on her views.

Some found her comments baffling, describing the interview as “insane.”

The protester’s comments emerged amidst rising anti-ICE protests across the country, fueled further by divisive political rhetoric following the shooting incident.

In Minneapolis, an ICE officer shot Goode on a suburban street, claiming self-defense after being struck by a vehicle during the confrontation.
