Online Outcry Over Transgender Lawmaker’s Comments on Porn Access

A Minnesota lawmaker has caused quite a stir online with her unusual views regarding age restrictions on adult websites. She argues that “queer” children should have access to such content for “educational” reasons.

Rep. Lee Finke, a Democrat who identifies as female and has served two terms, opposed legislation that aimed to enforce age verification on pornographic sites. She claims this bill would serve as a tool against the LGBTQ+ community.

Finke suggested that attorneys general in states implementing age verification laws seem “almost gleeful” at the opportunity to restrict explicit content that could provide “education” about sexuality for young LGBTQ+ individuals.

She stated, “They’re almost thrilled to use these laws to stop young people from accessing potentially educational material if they’re gay,” during a recent committee meeting.

In her remarks, Finke pointed out the lack of sex education for LGBTQ+ students in schools, mentioning that for many, sexuality is crucial to their identity, especially for transgender youth. She criticized the notion that transgender kids do not exist.

The liberal lawmaker’s comments drew backlash from groups like Moms of Liberty, a conservative parents’ organization, with one user commenting on the oddness of her stance while another expressed concern over minors accessing adult material.

Digital critics went further, accusing Finke of “grooming” children and labeling her a child predator, demanding her removal from office. One user lamented, “They don’t even hide the fact that they want to groom and sexualize young children in porn,” while another dismissed the position as “arrogant and foolish.”

Interestingly, one person remarked that the clip could serve as “intermediate advertising material.” Finke, who made history as Minnesota’s first transgender elected official, is set for re-election in November.
