In February, he announced the Saving for a Valuable Education (SAVE) plan, which would forgive debt for enrolled borrowers who have been paying off their student loans for at least 10 years and have less than $12,000 in debt. Borrowers with larger amounts of debt would receive relief through an additional year of repayment for every $1,000 they owe.
