Dallas Wings Star Calls for Stricter Gun Control

Paige Bookers, a standout player for the Dallas Wings, expressed her concerns regarding gun control laws following a tragic shootout at a Minnesota Catholic church that resulted in two fatalities and multiple injuries.

The suspect has been identified as Robert or Robin Westman, according to sources in law enforcement. During the incident at Notice Church in Minneapolis, he allegedly wielded three firearms.

After attending high school in Minnesota, Westman previously played with the Connecticut Sun before deciding to play college basketball at UConn.

“I sent a prayer… it’s really upsetting,” Bookers commented. “We need stricter gun laws so parents don’t have to worry about their kids going to school or people attending church. It’s crucial that these places feel safe.”

Bookers added, “It’s disheartening to see gun violence remain such a persistent issue and that not much has changed. I really hope for a future where laws protect families from this kind of tragedy.”

Reports indicate that 17 individuals were injured, including 14 children, with two in critical condition.

Tragically, the children who lost their lives were just 8 and 10 years old. The ongoing discussion about gun violence persists, highlighting the need for significant changes to legislation aimed at protecting communities.
