Minnesota Vikings promote Odell Beckham Jr. from practice squad for matchup with Saints

Odell Beckham Jr. Gets Opportunity with Minnesota Vikings

Odell Beckham Jr. may not have had the ideal return to New York, but now he has a chance to prove himself in the NFL after being signed to the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad.

Well, at least he’ll be on the sidelines wearing pads, which is something, right?

Reports indicate that the Vikings plan to promote the experienced wide receiver from the practice squad in preparation for their upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints.

This doesn’t necessarily mean Beckham will actually play, but it opens up options for the Vikings, especially since their top receivers, Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, are both questionable for the game.

Beckham, an 11-year NFL veteran from LSU, has yet to record a reception this season and was only targeted once during his brief stint with the Giants.

But, you know, those warm-up highlights were pretty impressive!

Currently, Jefferson is dealing with an ankle issue, while Addison has a hamstring injury. According to reports, head coach Kevin O’Connell mentioned that Jefferson is improving and may be cleared soon.

“He progressed throughout the week,” O’Connell said, adding, “A lot will depend on how he feels after practice today, and we have quite a bit of time to make the best decision for our team and Justin.”

If Beckham is needed during the game, it’ll be a significant opportunity for him to demonstrate that he can still make a meaningful impact on a strong team like the 4-0 Vikings.
