Minnesota woman tries to run boyfriend over en route to couple’s therapy session

A 30-year-old Minnesota woman is in custody after an incident on her way to couples counseling.

According to an affidavit obtained by Crime Online, Veronica Rollin Gast was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault, operation of a motor vehicle causing injury, gross negligence and domestic violence.

The incident occurred on Wednesday while Gast was driving to a couples therapy appointment with her boyfriend. Prior to the incident, Gast and her boyfriend had been dating for about a year.

According to Crime Online, on the way to the therapist, Gast’s boyfriend told her he was ending their relationship and demanded that she take him home.

Gast then allegedly suddenly stopped his vehicle and demanded that the boyfriend get out of the car, after the victim’s boyfriend walked past her vehicle to go to a nearby sidewalk, according to the affidavit obtained by Crime Online..

According to the affidavit obtained by Crime Online, Gast allegedly made eye contact with her boyfriend as he passed her car, then stepped on the gas and tried to run him over.

He then rolled over the bonnet of the car and crashed into the windshield, which shattered and caused a laceration to his right elbow in the process.

“The defendant admitted to striking the victim when he started driving. The defendant stated he slowed down and stopped his vehicle to call police,” reads the police report, obtained by Crime Online.

“The defendant stated he was shocked after hitting the victim and did not immediately stop, instead releasing his foot on the accelerator,” the report continued.

While in custody, Gast claimed the windshield was broken because her boyfriend punched it, not because of his weight. It is unclear whether she sustained any injuries.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
