Disappearance and Death of South Carolina Trainer Raises Concerns
A fitness trainer from South Carolina, who was reported missing for almost a week, made intriguing posts on social media just weeks before her body was discovered.
Elena Katherine Moore, aged 39, went missing after a visit to a Planet Fitness gym in Lexington, and was found dead on June 11. According to the Lexington County Coroner’s Office, an autopsy revealed no obvious signs of trauma—such as bruises or wounds—although the exact cause of death remains undetermined as additional tests and reviews of her medical records are pending.
Moore had shared several comments on Instagram about three weeks prior to her death. One post highlighted a phrase about the end of a battle, made in response to another Instagram user’s reflections on finding peace post-relationship challenges.
In her comments, she proclaimed, “I’m finally free and safe!” expressing a sense of relief. Perhaps quite tellingly, she also responded to another post about lingering resentment after a painful relationship, noting, “The memories are in the trash – and I stopped loving him a long time ago – I was just looking for a way out when I realized I had an affair with the devil.”
Reportedly, Moore had been declared missing on June 5, but no immediate action was initiated at that time, since she was later found. Friends noted that during that interval, she had been admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
Her body was ultimately located on June 17, in a search area prompted by a tip. Police Chief Terrence Green mentioned that her last known location was after she left Planet Fitness.
Sondra Campbell, a close friend, recounted that when she last saw Moore on May 31, something felt off. She recalled Moore expressing fear for her life, stating, “She actually said those words to me.” Campbell emphasized the lasting friendship they shared, feeling the loss deeply.
At this moment, authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Moore’s death, and it remains unclear if foul play is involved.
