Missing Hawaii woman, Hannah Kobayashi, family not heard from detectives for ten days

The family of Hawaiian photographer Hannah Kobayashi, who disappeared during a “bucket list” trip to New York, said they hadn't heard from detectives in 10 days, but only after holding a rally calling for action.

Ms. Kobayashi missed her connecting flight to New York and was stranded in Los Angeles after leaving Los Angeles International Airport on November 8, but her family last heard from her three days later after she reported a series of concerns. That's when I sent the text message I should have.

The 30-year-old's family filed a missing person report the next day, but said they had heard nothing from authorities until Thursday when they held a rally on the streets of Los Angeles.

Pidgeon said the family has not given up on the search for Kobayashi.

“We will do everything we can until we find her,” Ryan Kobayashi told the magazine. “We just need to get the word out about her.”

“She is an amazing person who brings joy to so many people,” he added.

Haiku poet Kobayashi flew from Maui to Los Angeles on Nov. 8 and was scheduled to stay with another aunt on a connecting flight to New York.

Surveillance camera footage showed her arriving in Los Angeles, but missed her connecting flight 42 minutes later.

Kobayashi, who missed his flight, sent strange emails to family and friends before he disappeared, including one in which a friend told him he had been “tricked into giving away almost all of my funds.” .

In another message, she claimed to have been cheated on by “someone I thought I loved.”

Another message read: “Deep hackers erased my identity, stole all my funds and have been making me anxious since Friday.”

Her family has previously said the emails purported to be from Kobayashi were not hers.

Other footage showed Kobayashi at the Globe Shopping Center in Los Angeles' Fairfax neighborhood on November 9 and November 10, as well as her return to Los Angeles International Airport on November 9 and November 10.
