The Home Security Bureau of the missing American college student has appointed someone interested in the loss of Sudicsha Konanki in the Dominican Republic.
Thomas Julia, a spokesman for the Virginia Sheriff's Officer, Loudoun County, Virginia, told Fox News Digital that Joshua Libe, 24, is “an interested” for losing college students during spring break for University of Pittsburgh students.
Julia said Libe had been “interviewed at length,” but it was “not a criminal case yet, but a case of a missing person.” Riibe has not been charged with a crime in this case.
“Sherif [Michael] Chapman wants to make sure the research is comprehensive and includes all possible assets and techniques,” he said. “We're working closely with the FBI on all this and they're working with the Dominican national police.”
Police say Conanki, a resident of Loudoun County, Virginia, traveled with five people from the University of Pittsburgh to the Ryurepublica Hotel in Punta Cana during the school's spring break that began on March 2 and ended Sunday.
She was last seen on surveillance cameras, and five other people entered the beach at the five-star resort Thursday at 4:15am, Dominican national police said earlier in a statement.
Footage obtained by Noticias Sin showed Conanki appearing to be clinging to the man as the group proceeded towards the beach.
It was the last time authorities tracked down Conanki before Virginia residents disappeared.
Conanki's loss of sparked widespread speculation about the events that led to it, prompting investigations in both the Dominican Republic and the United States.
Authorities have not named the suspect in an ongoing investigation. On Tuesday, Dominican National Police said it was “reviewing targeted individuals who were close to the victim at the time of the loss of failure.”
“This includes employees at the hotel where Conanki and her colleagues were staying, and the goal is to gather information to support her movements, interactions and relevant details of her investigation,” they said.
When asked about Monday's report that Conanki may have owned, a spokesman for the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office told Fox News Digital that the authorities “hear this and did not see the evidence presented at this time.”
The joint investigation into the loss of Conanki's Disappearance is being conducted by the US Embassy of the Dominican Republic, the Dominican National Police and the Dominican Public Prosecutor's Office. The FBI is also supporting it.
The FBI declined to provide additional details regarding the investigation.
Fox News Digital has contacted Joshua Riibe.
