Missing Long Island Woman Jumps from Moving Car
A woman from Long Island, New York, has gone missing under concerning circumstances. Brittany Kritis Garip, 32, was last seen on surveillance footage in Oyster Bay around 8 PM on Friday, leading to her family reporting her disappearance.
According to her husband, Fernando Garip, she became agitated and jumped from their moving vehicle, discarding her cellphone into some bushes as she fled from the scene.
That moment marked the last time her family would see her. Her brother, Nico Kritis, emphasized her vulnerability, appealing to local residents to check their properties for signs of her. He expressed that even small actions could play a significant role in locating her, suggesting that she might be trying to avoid contact and could be looking for shelter in a secluded area.
Volunteers have been active in searching not just in wooded regions but also in rural and suburban neighborhoods. Kritis mentioned that they believe Brittany may be disoriented. A search organizer, Sarah Castor, noted on an online fundraising page that Brittany’s need for help doesn’t equate to her being in danger. She emphasized the importance of homeowners reviewing their security footage for any signs of her.
In a proactive move, volunteers recently combed through a mile of shoreline near Oyster Bay Harbor after Kritis Garip’s wallet was discovered on a road leading to the water.
Castor described Brittany as an incredibly kind individual and hoped her kindness would prompt people to assist in her search. As of Thursday, the search continues, with Nassau County police deploying helicopters and drones during their efforts.
Brittany Kritis Garip is described as a white female with brown hair and eyes, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing around 140 pounds.
