Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves: Conservative Approaches Benefit Everyone When Applied Properly

Mississippi Governor Discusses Conservative Policies’ Success

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves (R), also the CEO of Defend Forgotten America (DFA), expressed in a recent interview that when implemented correctly, conservative policies can “work for everyone.” He highlighted the state’s successes and suggested that other states could learn from their approach. According to him, the federal government struggles with innovation.

Reeves emphasized the significance of the private sector and advocated for lowering the tax burden on Americans, stating that the federal government has historically been ineffective in fostering innovation. He pointed out, “We’re giving our people more money, and what that means is economic growth,” referring to the reduction in the state’s personal income tax rate from 5% to 4% over recent years.

He further explained that Mississippi is now collecting more tax revenue than it did four years ago, even with a lower tax rate. “Instead of increasing taxes on individuals, it’s about increasing the number of taxpayers, which leads to economic growth, ultimately resulting in increased tax revenue,” Reeves stated, expressing his aspiration to reduce taxes to zero.

The governor noted that he has removed certain business taxes, like the inventory tax and the corporate franchise tax, to attract more businesses and generate jobs in Mississippi. “As a result, in 2024, Mississippi had the second-fastest GDP growth in the nation,” he added.

Reeves mentioned the state also experienced the fourth fastest growth in household income and the second fastest growth in personal income per capita in America. “What I’m selling to the world is that conservative policies work,” he declared, reinforcing that these policies benefit everyone in the state if implemented correctly.
