Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell have been in an up-and-down battle for years.
Even Mitch McConnell has reportedly now acknowledged that he is a candidate.
McConnell referred to Donald Trump as a candidate during a meeting with Senate Republicans, according to a new report.
Sen. Mitch McConnell referred to Donald Trump as “the candidate,” a monumental confession by a Trump opponent who has largely refused to even utter Trump's name for more than three years.
According to Punchbowl News, McConnell made comments to his Senate Republican colleagues during a meeting on Wednesday that lamented the changing dynamics of efforts to combine border packages and foreign aid.
The report states:
McConnell called Trump a “candidate” and noted that the former president wants to revolve his 2024 campaign around immigration. And Republican leaders said, “We don't want to do anything that undermines him.”
McConnell added: “We are in a bind.”
This also bodes badly for Nikki Haley.
