Sen. Mitch McConnell referred to Donald Trump as “the candidate,” a monumental confession by a Trump opponent who has largely refused to even utter Trump's name for more than three years.
McConnell made comments to his Senate Republican colleagues during a meeting on Wednesday that lamented the changing dynamics of efforts to combine border packages with foreign aid. according to to punch bowl news.

McConnell called Trump a “candidate” and noted that the former president wants to revolve his 2024 campaign around immigration. And Republican leaders said, “We don't want to do anything that undermines him.”
McConnell added: “We are in a bind.”
McConnell's comments come despite CNN reporting that 70% of Haley's support came from unregistered Republicans.Trump won Nikki Haley by double digits in the New Hampshire primary. The announcement was made the day after they defeated him by a difference of .
