Mitch McConnell Endorses Donald Trump for President 

Outgoing Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has endorsed former President Donald Trump for re-election in 2024.

McConnell’s support for Trump is a sign of solidarity with President Joe Biden.

The endorsement came just minutes after former presidential candidate Nikki Haley dropped out of the Republican primary.

McConnell: “It’s clear that former President Trump has the support he needs among Republican voters to become the presidential candidate of the United States.” Said. “It’s no surprise that he has my support as a candidate.”

McConnell praised Trump for working together “to accomplish great things for the American people” during his term. Mr. McConnell pointed to the successes of policies such as “tax reform that revitalized the economy and generational changes in the federal judiciary, most importantly the Supreme Court.”

“I look forward to the opportunity to shift from defense of the terrible policies that the Biden administration has promoted to a sustained attack aimed at making a real difference in improving the lives of Americans,” McConnell said.

McConnell announced in February that he was stepping down from his leadership role after health problems and an incident in which he froze during a news conference. He is the longest-serving leader in Senate history.
