MLB issues quiet warning to SF Giants pitchers regarding Pride Night biblical protest: 'We have informed the players'

Giants Pitchers Warned Over Pride Night Controversy

The Major League Baseball (MLB) has issued warnings to three pitchers from the San Francisco Giants for their actions during the team’s Pride Night celebrations.

The pitchers involved are Landen Loup, JT Brubaker, and Ryan Walker, who now face potential league disciplinary measures.

During the Pride Night event, Loup and Brubaker wore hats designed to celebrate the occasion but added a personal touch that the league has deemed inappropriate. Walker joined them in this silent protest by writing a Bible verse on his cap, which featured a rainbow-themed Giants logo that included colors representing the transgender community.

According to a statement from the league, “Writing on the cap is a violation of our rules, and we have warned the player about future violations,” emphasizing that this treatment is standard practice within the league.

Loup later expressed his feelings about the incident, stating, “It’s really about God’s covenant and the promises He has given us of faithfulness and mercy.” He added, “That’s kind of what I believe in, and I strongly believe in that. I’m grateful we live in a country where we have the freedom to believe what we want.”

In a related note, Giants reliever Sam Hentges chose not to wear a Pride hat for the game, opting instead for a standard black and orange Giants cap.

Interestingly, this isn’t an isolated issue. Last week, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Blake Treinen also made headlines for refusing to wear a Pride-themed hat while pitching. Such actions have sparked discussions about personal beliefs and team obligations.

Adding to the backdrop, Clayton Kershaw had previously used a similar approach in 2025, inscribing “Genesis 9:12-16” on his hat during a similar event.

The discussion surrounding these actions raises broader questions about the intersection of faith, personal beliefs, and sports culture, provoking varied reactions from fans and players alike.
