Transfer Speculation Surrounding Christian Pulisic

MLS commissioner Don Garber recently touched on the ongoing transfer speculations linking American soccer star Christian Pulisic to New York City FC. Garber mentioned that Pulisic could potentially join MLS and “spread his wings.”

This topic came up during his appearance on “One Nation with Brian Kilmeade” on FOX News. Garber was discussing the league as it looks ahead after the World Cup.

Reports of NYCFC’s interest in Pulisic surfaced back in June. CEO Brad Sims even confirmed this interest in an interview later that month.

Garber expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of NYCFC signing a prominent player, especially as they prepare to move to a new venue in Queens next year. He said, “I hope we can sign Christian Pulisic. I believe he’s going to be a great player in our league, and I believe our league is going to be great for him.” He likened Pulisic’s potential impact to that of Landon Donovan, encouraging him to come to Major League Soccer and thrive while being close to his family in Pennsylvania.

Currently, Pulisic’s contract with AC Milan is set to last until June 2027, with an option for an additional year. However, the situation remains somewhat uncertain, as AC Milan has indicated they aren’t interested in transferring him, a sentiment that Sims reiterated in June. Still, it’s not clear how long Pulisic wishes to stay in Italy.

At a recent MLS media gathering in Manhattan, Sims conveyed optimism about NYCFC’s ability to attract Pulisic. He believes that whenever the time comes, NYCFC will likely be a top choice for him.

Although Pulisic is regarded as one of the biggest names in American soccer, he faced challenges during the World Cup, receiving criticism for his performance as the U.S. men’s national team suffered an unfortunate exit in the round of 16 against Belgium.
