Mom of 15-year-old who died from fentanyl gives emotional speech that brings many to tears at RNC

The mother of a 15-year-old boy who died of a drug overdose delivered a passionate and emotional speech at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday.

Speaking to a captivated audience in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 2022, Ann Fundner reflected on the devastating loss of her son.

“This was not an overdose, this was poisoning.”

Fundner said her son attended church twice a week in Southern California and she tried to keep him away from drugs, but tragedy still struck the family.

“Weston, like most teenagers, wanted to fit in, and he felt peer pressure, and he tried something that someone gave him, and that’s what took my son’s life,” Fundner said. “We did everything right, I talked to him about it, and yet the fentanyl stayed in my son’s system.”

She added: “This was not an overdose, this was poisoning.”

Fundner blamed Democrats for lax border security that has allowed illegal drugs to enter the country.

“I believe Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, that jokey ‘border secretary,’ Gavin Newsom, and every Democrat who supports open borders are responsible for my son’s death.”

She received thunderous applause after the line, with many in the audience chanting, “Joe has to go!”

Fundner noted that under the Biden administration, fentanyl has become the leading cause of death for Americans ages 18 to 45.

“This is not a red or blue issue. This is a red, white and blue issue,” she continued. “Fentanyl doesn’t care if you’re black or white. It doesn’t discriminate. This is an American issue.”

She also urged Americans to vote for former President Donald Trump, who drew applause from the audience.

“This fight is not for me. My son is gone. This fight is for your children,” she added.

Pfandner’s speech was widely praised on social media.

“Watching Ann Pfundner, a beautiful mother who lost her beloved child to fentanyl, speak at the Republican National Convention gave me goosebumps. The love, support and standing ovation from the audience was amazing.” Said Kayleigh McEnany, former press secretary to President Trump.

The full speech was posted to Trump’s YouTube account. You can watch it here.
