“In a situation like this, every minute and every second counts when it comes to reaction time,” she said.
At about 4:20 a.m. the following Monday, state police were monitoring Sena's home when they saw a suspicious man drive up to the house and drop something into the family's mailbox. It was a ransom note.

Police quickly recovered a note, took fingerprints and recorded vehicle details. The fingerprints on the note matched those in the system for a DWI arrest in Saratoga County in 1999.
Authorities were able to quickly identify and arrest the suspect. Later that same Monday, a tactical team raided the mother's double-wide trailer in the Saratoga Springs suburb of Milton, where they found the suspect and little Charlotte.

“The girl was quickly located in a covered cupboard and rescued,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said at a press conference at the time.
Sena said the year since Charlotte's abduction has been “the most difficult year” of her life, but her family is working hard to move on and be positive.
