Mom Shot in Face, Killed in Front of Son

A 57-year-old mother was shot in the face and killed Monday night while trying to protect her husband from a burglar who had followed him into their lower Manhattan apartment.

New York Post Reported “Two suspects wearing black balaclavas followed the victim's husband into the building, where he entered the elevator and attempted to rob him.”

His mother, Ying-Chu Liu, and her 32-year-old son were waiting for his father to come out of the elevator when the doors opened and they realised what was happening. Ms Liu tried to help her husband, but one of the suspects allegedly pulled out a gun and shot her in the face.

Pix 11 attention The suspects fled the scene after the shooting, with one of the suspects “last seen wearing a half red, half black hoodie, black and white shoes, black pants with white stripes down the legs, and a black ski mask.”

The other suspect is described as wearing “all black clothing, a ski mask and black and white sneakers.”

Mike Bloomberg's Everytown for Gun Safety Rank New York has the second-most restrictive gun laws in the nation after California, and New York City has stricter gun licensing requirements than the rest of the state.
