More Caution Needed on Who’s Allowed to Exercise Second Amendment Rights

MSNBC contributor Frank Figliuzzi said Wednesday on “Deadline” that the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs championship parade is a sign that the country should be more careful about who is allowed to exercise their constitutional right to own guns. He said that this shows what needs to be done.

“It’s early, but it’s never too early to talk about the role of weapons in our society,” Figrizzi said. were reported to have been interrupted by gunfire and a fatality on their way to a place of worship. We have had good times in Kansas City, but the same thing happens.”

He continued: “I think too often what the media discovers is probably a finding that says, ‘Oh, these guys were legally in possession of those guns.'” Understood. ‘Then they drop the problem without further analysis. Does that mean it’s okay? Does that mean those people should have had guns even if they were legally allowed to do so? What we know about them could have been done better in terms of assessing and scrutinizing people’s gun ownership? What could we change? ”

Figliuzzi added: We are not taking constitutional rights away from people, but rather we are becoming more careful about who we allow to exercise those rights in our society. ”
