More than 100 evacuated and nearly a dozen injured after fire in South Kensington | London

Eleven people were taken to hospital after a fire broke out at a converted terrace house in London’s upmarket South Kensington district.

Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters were called to the scene at the terraced house, which has been converted into flats, in Emperor’s Gate, west London, near the Natural History Museum.

A spokesperson for London’s emergency services said the injured were taken to “London hospitals and major trauma centres”.

Officials said 15 fire engines and about 100 firefighters were called to the scene, where half of the first floor of the building was destroyed.

“The fire spread from the first floor of the property to the top floor and roof,” Chief Steve Collins said.

“Crews are working hard to contain the infection. [fire] This is to prevent the spread to adjacent buildings. ”

Kensington and Chelsea Brigade District Commander Ben King said it was “too early” to say what caused the fire.

In the incident, two people were rescued from the second floor of an apartment building using a 13.5-meter-high ladder, two more people were rescued from the fourth floor, and one person was rescued from the first floor of an apartment building.

According to the fire department, the first and second floors of the building were extensively damaged, and part of the first floor was destroyed.
