Former President Trump-backed businessman Bernie Moreno has a nine-point lead in Ohio’s Republican Senate primary, according to a poll released the day before Tuesday’s election.
the last emerson college Poll of people likely to vote RepublicanIn polls conducted Sunday and Monday, Moreno had an approval rating of 38%, ahead of state Sen. Matt Dolan, who had an approval rating of 29%.
The poll showed Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose’s approval rating at just 12%, but his approval rating has been steadily declining since January, when he had 21% approval. LaRose’s approval rating was 16% in early March opinion polls. LaRose has little financial muscle to keep up with Dolan and Moreno, who are pouring their own money into their campaigns.
Moreno’s approval rating has increased significantly since the beginning of this month, increasing by 15 points. The poll was conducted after President Trump visited Ohio to campaign for Moreno on Saturday, garnering media attention and likely boosting Moreno’s performance in the polls.
Pollsters say the race is likely closer than it appears, with the margin remaining narrow between Moreno and Dolan, while support for LaRose is declining. Mr. Dolan’s approval rating has also increased slightly since the poll earlier this month, increasing by 3 points to 29%.
Among Ohio Republican primary voters surveyed, 21% said they were either undecided or supporting someone else.
Among those who have not yet decided whether they are likely to vote Republican, when asked who they are leaning towards, 51% lean towards Dolan. When undecided voters are included in the total, Moreno’s lead shrinks to four points.
“Moreno’s lead over Dolan is 38% to 29%, but 21% of undecided voters support Dolan, and turnout is 44% to 40,” said Spencer, director of the Emerson College polling office. “It’s close to within the margin of error.” Kimball said in a statement about the poll.
The battle for Ohio’s Senate Republican primary has become increasingly heated in recent days as candidates aim to capture the Republican nomination to unseat Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). It has become a battle.
In a poll earlier this month, Held from March 7th to 10th, surveyed registered Democratic and Republican voters. Polls show Brown leading all three candidates in a hypothetical 2024 Senate showdown.
The latest poll was conducted Sunday and Monday and surveyed 450 likely Republican voters in Ohio. The margin of error is 4.6 percentage points.
