Morin Killing Shows ‘Border Crisis’ Impacts Everyone

Speaking on Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends” on Wednesday, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) said the killing of Rachel Morin shows that the “border crisis” is “impacting every single one of us.”

“I’m outraged. Our state is still grieving. This woman was a mother of five and she had a life ahead of her, many celebrations with her family, and her life was cut short,” Moore said. “When people think about the border crisis, they think this only affects a handful of states, but the state where this brutal murder took place, Harford County, is 1,800 miles from the border. So when people think this only affects a handful of states, this affects all of us. This inaction to pursue any kind of sensible immigration policy affects all of us because all of us are dealing with the consequences of this in our local governments.”

He added, “We’re talking about a problem that’s been dysfunctional for a very long time. This isn’t just an issue with this Congress. This isn’t just an issue with this group of senators. … This is a very long-running problem and we’ve allowed this to happen because of the lack of courage that we’ve seen in Washington for so long, and we’ve allowed the people of my state to be victimized by the long-running inaction that we’ve seen across the Congress, and there’s nothing I take more seriously than public safety.”
