Most Americans rate Biden as ‘failed’ or ‘fair’ president: new poll

As the White House sunsets with less than a week left until the end of President Biden's term, a new national poll shows many Americans don't think history will be kind to him.

A USA Today/Suffolk University poll released Tuesday found that 44% of voters nationwide say history will judge Biden as a failed president, and another 27% say he will be judged as a fair president. I answered that I was deaf.

Of those asked, 21% said history would view Biden as a good president, but just 5% said Biden would be viewed as a great president.

The president's single term in the White House ends next Monday, January 20, as President-elect Donald Trump takes over as Biden's successor.

But the poll also found that 44% said Trump would be seen as the most unsuccessful president in history.

One in five say Trump, who begins his second term next week, is seen as a great president, with 19% saying he would be seen as a good president and 27% saying he would be seen as a fair president. did.

David Paleologos, director of the Center for Political Research at Suffolk University, said the changes over the past four years have been particularly pronounced among independent voters.

“Donald Trump essentially wiped out his overwhelmingly negative personal popularity among independents between December 2020 and today,” Paleologos said. “Trump went from a whopping -22 (35% favorable, 57% unfavorable) to a minuscule -5 (42% favorable, 47% unfavorable) among the group that typically swings in elections.”

Looking ahead, 31% said they were excited to have Trump back in the White House, and 18% said they were satisfied. However, 12% said they were depressed, and 31% said they feared Trump's re-election.

The poll was conducted by telephone to 1,000 registered voters nationwide. The survey was conducted between January 7 and January 1, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
