During an episode of CNN’s “Lead” last Friday, Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) emphasized the crucial role migrants play in the economy. He criticized the current administration’s immigration policies, suggesting that they are negatively impacting GDP, even as he acknowledged that they inherited a robust economy from President Biden.
Padilla pointed out the rising prices affecting consumers, highlighting the precarious situation many find themselves in. “Immigration is vital for sectors like agriculture, hospitality, construction, transportation, healthcare, and childcare,” he stated. He insisted that everyone should recognize the importance of migrants, arguing that the harsh policies implemented during the Trump era must be addressed.
He further remarked, “The contraction of the economy in the first quarter this year cannot be blamed entirely on Donald Trump; it’s clear we inherited a strong economy from President Biden.”
