A majority of high school and college-aged students believe President Joe Biden is mentally unfit to be president, a survey by the Young America’s Foundation has found. 2024 Understanding students’ opinions on current affairs This was revealed in a study conducted by Echelon Insights.

Overall, 56% said “no” that the president is not mentally fit to serve, while only 30% said he is mentally fit and 14% remained unsure.
Ideologically, 79% of conservative students and 61% of moderate students said Biden is not mentally fit to serve as commander in chief. More than a third of liberal students (35%) agreed, but a majority, 54%, still believe Biden is mentally fit.
The survey also asked former President Donald Trump the same question, finding that 42% thought he was mentally fit for the presidency, while 44% thought he was not.
The poll revealed more bad news for Biden: When it comes to the needs of young people, 55% of students say they have little or no confidence in whether Biden is an effective leader. What’s more, a majority (53% overall) are strongly or somewhat dissatisfied with the way Biden is handling his duties as president.
The survey was conducted among more than 1,600 students from June 4-9, 2024, and has a margin of error of +/- 5.2 percentage points for high school students and +/- 5.3 percentage points for college students.
The announcement comes as some Democrats continue to sound the alarm following Biden’s dismal debate performance on Thursday.

Biden’s campaign has insisted that the 81-year-old Biden isn’t going anywhere, but some on the left are calling for him to step down. Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, publicly called this week for Biden to step down.
“We had hoped the debate would be the catalyst for changing that, but it did not. Far from reassuring voters, the President failed to effectively defend many of his accomplishments and expose many of Trump’s lies,” he said in a press release.
“I represent the heart of the district once represented by Lyndon Johnson,” he continued. “Under very different circumstances, Mr. Johnson made the difficult decision to withdraw. President Biden should do the same.”
