Illinois Mother Charged After Conceiving Child with 14-Year-Old
An Illinois mother, aged 43, is facing serious legal trouble after allegedly giving birth to a child fathered by a 14-year-old boy. Interestingly, her own daughter had taken that same boy to a middle school dance, authorities say.
Robin Polston, who was in charge of the dance event, was arrested on Monday and now faces multiple charges, including two counts of sexual assault involving a minor aged 13 to 17 and two counts of possessing child pornography, according to court documents.
The investigation began after police in Washington received a complaint related to Polston giving birth in January 2025. Court records indicate that upon examining the birth certificate and related documents, authorities noticed that the baby’s name matched that of the alleged victim’s middle and last name.
In her statements to authorities, Polston claimed the child’s father was “a man in his 20s named Brian,” but she said he ceased all communication after the birth. However, as the investigation progressed, they uncovered that the boy had attended a middle school dance with Polston’s daughter in May 2023, where Polston served as a chaperone.
The alleged victim had temporarily moved away but returned about 40 weeks prior to the child’s birth in April 2024, documents reveal. He was said to be living with a friend’s family after coming back in August 2024.
Furthermore, investigators reportedly found numerous “sexually explicit images and videos” of Polston and the boy on their phones. It appears they had been using pseudonyms to hide their identities, and Polston allegedly sought to coerce him into helping cover up their activities.
DNA testing ultimately confirmed that the boy is indeed the father of the child. Prosecutors claim that Polston’s mother and sister enabled this troubling situation, asserting that Polston would find it difficult to sever ties with her child’s father.
This serious case has led to Polston being held without bail while she awaits further proceedings. Her next scheduled court appearance is set for December 4, and her attorney has yet to make any statements regarding the matter.
