Mother Loses Life Shielding Kids After Husband Gets Furious over NFL Match

A Florida Mother’s Tragic Story

A Florida woman, Crystal Loure, has been recognized as a hero following the heartbreaking incident involving her husband, who lost his temper during an NFL game.

This unfortunate event took place just days before Christmas. Jason Kenney, a Polk County resident, acted violently during a Monday Night Football game, resulting in the serious injury of his 13-year-old stepdaughter and the death of Crystal.

Crystal’s sister, Stephanie Lorre, shared that after years of being a single mother, Crystal found love with Kenney, whom she met at church. They married in 2023, and it seemed like they were happily married. Crystal took her time before introducing him to her children, waiting a year after they started dating.

“She took her time,” Stephanie remarked. “She had this happy glow that I hadn’t seen in a long time… My sister really trusted him and fell in love. It felt like she finally found her happy ending.”

Stephanie mentioned that Crystal dedicated her life to her children after becoming a mother at 25.

“She put everything into being a mom, working hard to provide for them,” Stephanie said. “It’s like she was a superwoman, balancing a full-time job and being a full-time mother.”

“Her children were her world. They always came first,” she added.

Even though Stephanie had reservations about Kenney, she noticed a change in Crystal when they started dating. After their marriage, however, that initial happiness seemed to dim. When Stephanie asked Crystal if everything was okay, she mentioned that the pregnancy complications were likely due to age.

“I asked her, ‘Are you okay?’” Stephanie recounted. “She said she was, but this pregnancy had been tough.”

On December 22, 2025, just three days before Christmas, the idealized family image shattered when Stephanie received the devastating news of her sister’s murder.

“On the evening of December 22, Crystal and her children were gathered by the Christmas tree at home in Highland City while Kenny was drinking and watching football until late at night,” Sheriff Judd reported.

When Kenny entered the house, a confrontation broke out. Crystal, fearing for safety, instructed her 12-year-old son to flee to a neighbor for help.

The son recalled hearing gunshots as he ran away, and authorities later discovered Crystal’s body inside the home. Remarkably, her daughter survived despite being shot in the face and shoulder, while the young ones were unharmed. A note Crystal had written to Kenny was found, expressing her concern about his drinking and drug use.

Kenny later took his own life at his father’s property.

“I know she mentioned he started drinking more after they tied the knot, but she thought he could change,” Stephanie said, recalling how Kenny often appeared detached during family visits, spending time outside playing on his phone.

“If there had been abuse, I believe he would have intimidated her into silence, but that’s a question we’ll never really know,” she said. “My sister was the kind of person who would leave if things weren’t right for her kids.”

“I’ll make sure her children always remember the love, strength, and courage she had for them,” Stephanie stated. “They will always know how much she loved them.”
