Mother Criticizes Illinois Governor Over Immigration Policies
A grieving mother has expressed her frustration towards Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, who recently commented on the state’s federal immigration crackdown, saying there are “more criminals than citizens.” The mother, speaking on Fox & Friends First, emphasized that the governor should support the law rather than inciting division among people who work hard for a living.
Her daughter, 37-year-old Megan Boss, went missing earlier this year. After an extensive search, her body was ultimately discovered in a container behind the home of an undocumented immigrant in northern Chicago.
Luis Mendoza Gonzalez, a Mexican immigrant, faced charges related to the concealment and abuse of Boss’s body after he passed away in April. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), he was released by a Lake County judge due to Illinois’s bail reform law. In July, Mendoza Gonzalez was apprehended by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The cause of Boss’s death remains undetermined. Reports indicate that her body showed signs of decomposing and exposure to chemicals. Although no trauma was evident, toxicology tests revealed the presence of fentanyl, cocaine metabolites, and morphine. Her mother contested prior claims from the DHS that suggested her daughter had been beheaded.
During a press conference, Governor Pritzker condemned federal immigration officials, describing their actions as “a war with our people.” He claimed that over the weekend, numerous reports indicated that ICE and Customs and Border Protection agents had misused their authority and threatened innocent individuals.
Pritzker criticized the federal approach, asserting that it intended to create chaos and justify military deployment in Chicago and surrounding areas. Both he and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson have expressed strong opposition to federal immigration enforcement efforts, citing issues of harassment by officers.
Boss dismissed the governor’s remarks as mere political theatrics, calling them a “show.” She voiced her perspective that while many argue that undocumented immigrants are simply trying to survive, accountability should be upheld for those who commit crimes, regardless of their residency status.
Her sentiments highlighted the complex feelings surrounding immigration policies, emphasizing that those who break the law should face consequences, regardless of their circumstances.
