Mother Pleads for Safe Return of Missing Son Who Traveled for Online Meeting

A mother is desperately seeking her 15-year-old son, Thomas Medlin, who is believed to have traveled to New York City over two weeks ago. He reportedly went to meet someone he met through Roblox, the popular online game. The worried mother has urged her son to return home, insisting that he isn’t in any kind of trouble.

Thomas left Long Island on January 9, taking a train to the city. He had recently dropped out of Stony Brook School, a pricey college preparatory institution costing over $70,000 annually. After boarding a Long Island Rail Road train, he was seen on surveillance footage arriving at Grand Central Terminal.

Eva Jan, his mother, is now making a heartfelt appeal, asking anyone with him to confirm that he is safe. “We love him very much and would like you to send us a message. Whoever he’s with, please let us parents know he is safe; no one will hurt him,” she remarked in a recent interview.

She added, “Whenever he’s ready to come home, just let us know where to pick him up. He’s never in trouble. We love him more than anything.” This sentiment speaks volumes about her concern as a parent.

Authorities believe that Thomas arranged a meeting in the city with someone he met online, which his mother feels is inappropriate for a teenager. Recently, police informed the family that his phone was last active in Lower Manhattan, and he was spotted on surveillance footage in Brooklyn.

Roblox has stated that it is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. A spokesperson for the company expressed concern, indicating they are working closely with law enforcement to assist in the inquiry.

Eva mentioned that she might have found a way to bypass the parental controls Thomas set up by secretly creating her own Roblox account linked to a different email, which Thomas wasn’t aware of.

Authorities have reported that an internal investigation found no suspicious activity connected to his disappearance. They note that Thomas is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs around 130 pounds. He was last seen dressed in a black jacket with red stripes, dark sweatpants with white stripes, and a black backpack, while also wearing glasses.
