Tragic Discovery in Alabama: Mother Arrested

Authorities report that a mother left her one-year-old daughter’s strangled body behind a spirit hearse at an Alabama funeral home. Terica Pearl has been taken into custody after the shocking discovery was made by an employee at the West Gadsden Funeral Home.

The grim finding occurred on Saturday when the staff realized the lifeless baby was not a doll, as initially believed, according to the funeral home’s owner, Dantes Robinson.

Court documents indicate the child had been strangled with a thick robe string. Gadsden police arrested Pearl on Sunday, charging her with murder.

Robinson has since arranged a vigil for the child, who had only been in this world for a brief year. He expressed his heartbreak, stating that his own children, aged four and seven, made this tragedy hit even harder for him.

“My heart just sank,” Robinson shared. “It was a devastating moment. I can’t even begin to imagine what that family is going through.”

Ekra Tolbert, a friend of the child’s grandmother, revealed that the grandmother was utterly shattered by the loss. “Her heart is completely torn apart,” she said, noting the sleepless nights both she and the grandmother have faced since the tragedy.

Gadsden Mayor Craig Ford described the situation as a “tough case for everyone involved.” He commended the police for their determination in seeking justice, acknowledging that, while the arrest doesn’t heal the pain, it brings them one step closer to it.

Pearl remains in custody at the Etowa County Jail, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are appealing to the community for any additional information regarding the incident.
