Mountain West Commissioner Laments ‘National Negative Attention’ Over Trans Volleyball Player

Mountain West Conference Commissioner Gloria Nevarez announced that five collegiate women's volleyball teams will be volleyball players at San Jose State University after the school allowed men who identify as women to join the team. She talks about the controversy that erupted after she boycotted a women's volleyball match.

Nevarez moaned about the “negative attention” the conference is receiving as women defy officials who allow transgender players to compete in women's volleyball.

“The negative national attention on both sides of this issue is heartbreaking because they are also human beings, young people, and student-athletes. It just doesn't feel right to me. I feel it,” said Neverez. said The Associated Press reported Thursday.

Nevarez admitted that she is still “learning a lot” about transgender issues, but blamed “politics” for the entire controversy currently swirling in women's volleyball.

“I still don't know much about the language or the science or the national understanding of how this problem plays out,” she exclaimed. “There are outside influences on both sides right now. We have an election year. This is political, so it feels like there's no chance of winning given the outside pressures.”

But “politics” is not what many women cited in their statements as the reason for boycotting the game against SJSU.

They advocate safety and fairness.

For example, players on the University of Nevada team released the following statement: “Our University of Nevada, Reno women's volleyball team lost against San Jose State University, Southern Utah University, Boise State University, University of Wyoming and Utah State University,” the women said.

“We demand that our rights to on-court safety and fair competition be protected. We refuse to participate in any matches that promote injustice against female athletes.”

San Jose State University very secretly added transgender player Blair Fleming to the team in April, without telling his teammates that he was male or female. When the news finally broke, other teams began to take notice and announced boycotts of games against the school.

So far, five women's college teams have had their games against SJSU forfeited: Nevada, Southern Utah, Boise State, Wyoming and Utah State.

Anti-transgender protesters have seriously injured several women and girls in recent years, and the injuries have caused many female athletes to suspend their support for radical transgenderism.

The NCAA is currently facing a lawsuit from multiple organizations over its policy of allowing transgender athletes to play as women.
