MS-13 Gang Member Pleads Guilty to Double Murder

A member of the notorious MS-13 gang, Kevin Cuevas “Creeper” Del Cid, has admitted to his involvement in the murders of two young men in Long Island back in 2016. Using a fake Facebook profile, he lured a 20-year-old into a deadly meeting, according to federal prosecutors.

Del Cid, now 25, has faced serious charges after it was revealed that he posed as a “young girl” to entice his victim to a wooded area near Merrick Freeport.

An FBI assistant director commented on the case, saying, “Del Cid’s actions underscore the brutal nature of gang violence, aiming to instill fear and punish those perceived as threats.” It’s chilling, really, how the violence is often justified within the gang.

According to the prosecutors, Del Cid created the fake profile to contact Kerin Pineda on May 21, 2016. When Pineda arrived for the meet-up, he was surrounded by Del Cid and other gang members who attacked him. After the attack, they buried his body in a pre-dug hole, indicating a level of planning that’s unsettling.

In another instance, Del Cid, at just 16 years old, persuaded 15-year-old Javier Castillo to accompany him to a secluded park area on October 10, 2016. Tragically, Castillo was also attacked and subsequently buried near the crime scene.

This Wednesday, Del Cid pleaded guilty to charges tied to these two murders, alongside a conspiracy related to the distribution of cocaine and marijuana.

MS-13, or La Mara Salvatrucha, began as a gang in Central America but has since established a strong presence in various areas of the U.S., including Long Island. The Eastern District Attorney, Joseph Nosera, remarked on the case’s brutality, noting that it reflects MS-13’s alarming disregard for human life.
