YouTube Star Miss Rachel Takes Political Stance Against Texas Jails
YouTube personality known as “Miss Rachel,” or Rachel Griffin Accurso, has announced her decision to engage in political activism, particularly targeting the shutdown of jails in Texas.
In recent discussions, she mentioned her efforts to connect with children at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in South Texas through video calls. She voiced serious concerns, labeling the center as a site of “neglect and child abuse.” Accurso is reportedly collaborating with lawyers and activists to advocate for the closure of Dilley and to reunite children with their families in the communities where they belong.
Accurso has embraced the “political” label her critics have used against her. “I’m a politician,” she stated. “It is political to believe that children deserve love and care, that all children are equal.” I mean, it’s really about how our care shouldn’t depend on appearances, religion, or national borders.
CoreCivic, the organization running the Dilley facility, responded that they empathize with concerns about children’s well-being, asserting they provide “safe, humane and compassionate care.” Their spokesperson emphasized the access to recreational areas, educational materials, and proper meals available to families.
Accurso’s recent statements on social media have drawn both support and criticism, particularly related to her opinions on the Israel-Hamas conflict. She referenced severe casualties among children in Gaza, although this figure was later corrected. It’s a complicated situation and it’s easy to see why people have different views.
She also faced backlash for liking a post considered anti-Semitic, which led her to issue a tearful apology, claiming it was accidental. Accurso has insisted that she holds no animosity toward the Jewish community or any other group, emphasizing her commitment to kindness and inclusion in her work.
