MSNBC’s Weissmann Says He Has a ‘Man Crush’ on Judge Merchan

Former assistant federal prosecutor Andrew Weissmann told MSNBC’s “The Andrea Mitchell Report” on Wednesday that he has a “man crush” on Judge Juan Marchan, who is presiding over former President Donald Trump’s New York business records trial.

“In this case, and in many cases, there was a relationship of trust between the judge and the jury,” Mitchell said.

“Most jurors, unless they have a really temperamental judge, develop a real bond with the judge. The judge is attentive to them, mindful of their time, making sure things run smoothly. As you pointed out regarding Judge Marchan, I’m in love with him as a guy now,” Weissman said.

He added: “He’s such a good judge that it’s impossible for the jury not to have the same impression. If you look up ‘judge temperament’ in the dictionary, it seems right. He’s had to endure a defendant who committed 10 acts of insult and threatened not only him but his family. And yet you don’t see for a second that it weighs on him in any way, because the trial is completely fair.”
