MTA bus collides with several cars, leaving 7 injured in chaotic NYC incident that felt surreal

On Monday afternoon, a bus operated by the MTA in the Bronx crashed into several vehicles, resulting in injuries to at least seven individuals and causing panic among passengers.

Video footage captured a chaotic scene inside the moving BX6 bus, where passengers were heard screaming as it collided with multiple cars on East 163rd Street around 2 p.m. One passenger exclaimed, “Oh my god,” while another pleaded, “Open the damn door!” amid the distress.

At one point, two passengers were observed escaping through a window as the bus came to a stop.

According to police reports, the 63-year-old bus driver and six adult passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.

Images taken shortly after the incident depicted a shattered windshield and damaged door of the bus, along with several wrecked vehicles, including a severely crushed blue car with deployed airbags.

Eyewitness Wilson Albert reported seeing the bus driver strike six or seven cars and then continue moving until an unmarked police vehicle intervened. He recalled hearing a series of impacts, saying, “It was bang, bang, bang. All the cars she hit made noise.”

He also remarked that the situation felt surreal, noting, “It was like a movie. I thought they were making a movie.”

Another witness, named Mike, described seeing someone being taken away on a stretcher after he went outside to investigate the loud noise. “I thought he had a stroke or something behind the wheel, but that wasn’t it,” he said, adding that the injured individual appeared to be seriously hurt.

The MTA confirmed the accident and stated that the bus would be removed from service following the incident. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
