Georgia GOP Representative Marjorie Taylor Green (MTG) on Tuesday denounced Florida GOP representative Anna Pauline Naruna and continued working with Democrats to vote for a measure that would allow new parents to be voted on behalf of Congress.

Nine Republicans joined the Democrats led by Luna (R-FLA.) and opposed after the leader of House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) opposed the power of attorney being brought to the floor.
Luna's discharge initiative has halted all other legislative votes and blocked critical planning GOP voting measures. This was facilitated by promoting President Donald Trump's agenda and limiting the powers of federal judges by requiring him to vote for evidence of US citizenship.
As a result, Johnson revealed that all votes were cancelled for the remainder of the week.
“We have to reorganize and come back and do this one more time,” Johnson said.
“I can't believe that this week, Congress was hijacked over Luna's resolution, allowing members to skip work and vote from home,” Green (R-Ga.) wrote in the X-Post.
“We have important bills to help prevent illegal actors from voting and to pass to stop judges from rejecting President Trump's agenda,” she continued. “It's a shame that selfish politicians put themselves in front of the American people.”
“If you can't do the job, your constituents have sent you, so you can get aside and let someone else do it,” Green added.
Representative Thomas Massey (R-Ky.) also responded, calling Luna's initiative flattened as “unconstitutional.”
“The Congress was literally closed for a week due to spats about whether new moms and dads serving in the House of Representatives should be allowed to stay home and vote. Imagine being so passionate about saving the country from financial ruin and enduring war,” writes Massy. “1. Voting on behalf of proxy is unconstitutional. 2. It's stupid to delay our agenda for a week while we control Congress and the presidency!”
Meanwhile, Luna confronts her decision and says, “If we don't do the right thing now, we'll never do it.”
“@speakerjohnson doesn't have to pass the rules to bring the Save Act to the House floor. He can bring it in easily anyway, and Congress can vote to pass it today. He can also pass the clean rules, which was his original plan,” she began.
“My discharge petition supporting my new mother would have been completely separate from the Save Act and always been separate. Instead, the HFC (House Freedom Caucus) and several members (who were anti-Trump from Get Go) linked the Save Act to my petition, framed me and tried to undermine Trump's agenda,” she continued.
“To be clear, these are political games with President Trump's agenda. Why aren't Johnson bringing unheaded actions to the House floor? Within 72 hours they didn't even consider a save act. That's true. I'm willing to vote to hand it over.”
Luna was able to win signatures from 218 lawmakers, including 11 Republicans, and successfully voted through the discharge petition process.
