Campaign Funds Used for Trip to Support MS-13 Member

According to recent reports, some Democrats claim they utilized campaign funds to visit various individuals, including Kilmer Abrego Garcia, an alleged MS-13 gang member. This has raised eyebrows given that they also mentioned using personal money for the trip.

Abrego Garcia was supported by several Democratic representatives after they asserted that he had been wrongfully deported to El Salvador in March due to actions by the previous administration. Notably, figures like Maxwell Frost, Robert Garcia from California, Yassamin Ansari from Arizona, and Maxine Dexter from Oregon traveled to San Salvador in defense of his return.

Traveling together, these representatives reportedly pressured the Trump administration, advocating for Abrego Garcia’s return. They financed their trips using campaign funds, although some initially stated they would cover expenses personally.

A filing from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) highlighted that Frost’s campaign spent $1,362 on tickets with Salvadoran airline Vianca shortly after visiting Abrego Garcia. Dexter’s campaign also reported an expenditure of $1,315 for a TACA Airlines trip, despite his claims of personally covering costs.

Interestingly, even as Ansari mentioned paying out of pocket, his campaign filed for $2,616 spent on tickets with Vianca during the same period. Furthermore, Robert Garcia’s office confirmed spending $1,982 on another Salvadoran airline and an additional $502 for a space rental in San Salvador.

In related news, controversy surrounds efforts to combat a gang conspiracy in Maryland, linked to multiple murders attributed to MS-13. This escalating situation is viewed as part of a broader pattern of criminal activity. Meanwhile, several representatives, including Chris Van Hollen from Maryland, have taken a vocal supporting stance for Abrego Garcia, who returned to the U.S. in June and now faces serious charges, including human smuggling and conspiracy.

Abrego Garcia is accused of having a significant role in a human smuggling operation that has been active for years. Law enforcement sources identified him as a key figure, asserting he made frequent trips across borders while transporting individuals, including women and children, affiliated with MS-13.
