Multiple people were found shot to death at a “tragic scene” at a home in a small Washington state early Monday morning, authorities said.
Police made the horrifying discovery just before 5 a.m. after responding to multiple 911 calls about shots fired at a home in the Seattle suburb of Fall City. King5 reported.
Officials have not yet said how many bodies were found at the facility or whether there were any other injuries.
King County Sheriff's Office Deputy Mike Mellis said only that authorities encountered a “tragic scene” and were investigating a multiple homicide.
He added that the murder may be related to a domestic violence incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
“I can tell you it's going to be a really tragic event for the community and for anyone who has some connection here,” he said. “It's going to affect a lot of people.”
It was not immediately clear whether the suspect was in custody.
The investigation, which the sheriff's office described as “extensive,” was still ongoing, and other agencies were being asked to assist.
“That means this is an important scene that requires a lot of expertise and a lot of time,” Melis said.
Fall City, located about 30 miles outside Seattle, is a riverside town of about 2,000 people.
