Multiple U.S. Airports Decline to Air Kristi Noem’s Criticism of Democrats Over Government Shutdown

Airports Decline to Air Noem’s Shutdown Remarks

Several large airports in the U.S. have chosen not to broadcast a video featuring Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, in which she criticizes Democrats regarding the ongoing government shutdown. This situation has affected numerous federal employees, who have been working without pay for some time.

The shutdown has led to operational impacts at various airports, prompting some to reject airing Noem’s explanation of the situation, as reported by Fox Business. She stated, “It is TSA’s top priority that we deliver the most comfortable and efficient airport experience possible while keeping our customers safe. However, Congressional Democrats have denied federal funding. As a result, much of TSA’s operations have been affected, and most TSA employees are working without pay.”

Noem further expressed hope that Democrats would soon acknowledge the urgency of reopening government offices to prevent travel delays. A list of airports that are reportedly refusing to show her video includes Las Vegas, Phoenix, Seattle, Portland, Charlotte, Cleveland, and possibly some locations in New York.

Interestingly, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport has voiced its support for bipartisan efforts to end the shutdown. In contrast, Portland Airport declined to air Noem’s message, claiming it violates both the Hatch Act and Oregon state laws that restrict public employees from engaging in partisan political activities.

A senior Democratic Party official recently remarked to CNN that the party isn’t likely to change its stance unless extreme measures occur, such as “planes falling out of the sky.” Meanwhile, President Donald Trump is focusing on ensuring that U.S. military personnel receive their pay during this government shutdown.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, “If we do nothing, our brave troops will miss out on their rightful paychecks on October 15th because of ‘leader’ Chuck Schumer and the Democratic Party. That’s why I’m directing Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth to utilize all available funds to make sure our troops are paid on that date. I have identified funding to facilitate this, and Secretary Hegseth plans to act on it. I will not allow Democrats to jeopardize our military and national security due to this shutdown.” He also urged for cooperation from Democrats to tackle other significant issues.

Additionally, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt commented on social media on October 7th, emphasizing the negative impact of the government shutdown on vulnerable women and children, specifically pointing to the WIC program. She noted that President Trump and the White House have found a way to shift funding from Section 232 tariff revenues to support this critical program, ensuring that no mother or child goes hungry due to political strategies.
