Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney has insisted that Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley will have to give some explanation if she doesn’t withdraw from the race after her second loss to former President Donald Trump.
Mulvaney appeared on “The Hill on NewsNation” on Tuesday to discuss Haley’s campaign as polls began to close at a critical juncture in the 2024 election.
“Look, the general election started in January, because as soon as we got out of Iowa, it was clear that Donald Trump was going to be the Republican nominee,” Mulvaney said.
“But yeah, now you’re starting to wonder, is Nikki Haley really going to officially throw in the towel tomorrow after getting busted tonight?” he continued. “I think she probably does.”
Haley has dismissed the idea of running as an independent or on a no-label ticket if Trump becomes the Republican nominee, which seems increasingly likely.
