Mick Mulvaney, who served as acting White House chief of staff during the Trump administration, said the former president had spoken favorably about Adolf Hitler and his ability to inspire loyalty within the military. He attacked retired Gen. John Kelly for detailing his activities.
Kelly, who served as Trump’s White House chief of staff from July 2017 to January 2019, told CNN anchor and chief national security analyst Jim Schutt in his new book that Trump is Hitler’s He has often expressed admiration for leaders including, and is reported to have once said, “Hitler said this.” There are good things too. ”
Mulvaney made these claims about Trump in an interview on NewsNation’s “The Hill,” slamming Kelly for claiming he had never heard Trump mention Hitler’s name.
Mulvaney is Kelly’s successor and served as acting White House chief of staff from January 2019 to March 2020.
“Many of the people who accused Donald Trump of not reading books are now not only accusing him of not reading books, but of reading Hitler’s speeches at night. , I think that’s really interesting,” Mulvaney said.
“This is really, really outrageous,” he continued. “I’ve never seen anything close to this. I’ve spent more time with Donald Trump than with John Kerry. John Kerry hates the president. I understand why he instinctively can’t stand it. I’m not sure why he chose to do this, but I’ve never heard Donald Trump mention the word Hitler, and I’ve never heard him mention the word Hitler in any other speech. I certainly haven’t seen you there.”
Although Mulvaney has criticized his former boss, he said Tuesday that he always tries to do so “respectfully.” Mulvaney appealed to Kelly and the public to stop comparing the Republican presidential candidate to Hitler.
“This isn’t right, this isn’t right. John needs to shut up,” Mulvaney said.
In response to the report in Schutt’s book, President Trump’s press secretary Stephen Chan said that Kelly, who has each made critical statements about Trump in the past, and who is quoted in Schutt’s book, and John Bolton, President Trump’s former national security adviser.
“John Kerry and John Bolton are completely bewildered and suffering from severe Trump Derangement Syndrome. They have had their empty lives consumed by hate and need to seek professional help. “There is,” he said in a statement.
